ABOUT STARR

Born into a large and complex family, I am one of many voices shaped by both challenge and resilience—raised among 5 sisters and 1 brother, later meeting 5 more brothers, now with deep roots on both my mother’s and father’s sides. My journey began with adversity. At just two years old, I was removed from my home after suffering abuse at the hands of my stepfather, who was also domestically abusing my mother. While my father was largely absent due to circumstances that kept me on the outside of his world, my life was preserved and redirected through a greater plan.

By the age of seven, my mother—who carried both strength and unspoken pain—regained custody of me just before laws shifted to adopt kids after 2 years. Though I do not carry the memory of physical pain, I grew up with a heightened sense of awareness, deep discernment, and a spirit anchored in faith. I do not feel ashamed or bad about the challenges I faced as a child. I love every part of my life, it made me - ME! Because of it, prayer and my relationship with God became my foundation, shaping how I move, lead, and serve.

My upbringing instilled in me a powerful sense of purpose. Watching my mother raise seven children and witnessing the strength, talent, and creativity that runs through her bloodline—and the intelligence, leadership, and legacy-building nature from my father’s side—I became a reflection of both: an artist and a community event coordinator.

I earned an Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design and a Master’s Degree in Human Services with a minor in Community Development. My passion lies in helping people grow, breaking generational cycles, strengthening families, and empowering women to reclaim their voice and power.

As a mother of three sons, everything I do is rooted in legacy. They are my “why,” my daily motivation to build, heal, and create a different future. My life’s work is not just about success—it’s about transformation.

I have used my voice to advocate for others in impactful ways, including serving as Chair of W.I.N. (Women in NAACP), where I championed women’s issues, and now most recently being selected to serve on my own nonprofit—continuing my commitment to speak for those who may feel unseen or unheard.

Through my work, I’ve created and led powerful initiatives including the annual “How to Break Generational Cycles” workshop, the “Money Conscious Budgeting” workshop paired with a budget planner I authored, and my book Power of Her Hands, which teaches women how to generate income through their God-given talents. I’ve also provided graphic design and website services to individuals and businesses across 13 states, blending creativity with strategy to help others elevate their brands. I've helped 300+ businesses start!

As an event curator, I’ve produced fashion shows, community events, open forum panel events, powerful themed workshops, & much more! I am currently planning the 2nd Annual Xcellence Awards—my largest signature event—celebrating community leaders and trailblazers making an impact in Carroll County. All proceeds go towards my mentorship program "King In Him Mentorship & Empowerment Program"; a program that serves teen boys. As a boy Mom, I thought it was imperative to create environments where men could pour guidance, support, and leadership in our local boys! The King In Him Program is my biggest initiative yet & growing! As of recent, KIH now serves in 2 Carroll County (Georgia) Schools; Villa Rica High & Middle Schools! We've already served over 200 boys!

My artistic & philanthropic expression continues to shine through my community work & visual art, where I create meaningful, beautiful pieces that reflect purpose, identity, and power.

This is only a glimpse of the work I’ve done and what’s to come. My journey is still unfolding, and the vision continues to expand. For those who want to stay connected, grow, and witness what’s next—you’ll have to subscribe and be part of the movement. I have so much more coming up!
